F5 releases a "Virtual" loadbalancer

F5, known from their BigIP load balancers, have released their OS so that it can be installed on a virtual machine. Currently only VMWare is supported as Hypervisor but Hyper-V support is in the works

BIG-IP LTM VE gives you the same industry-leading advanced application delivery capabilities, the flexibility to control traffic with F5 iRules™ scripting language, and simplified deployments with Application Ready Templates. The 90-day trial gives you the ability to test configurations and use iRules to export them to your other BIG-IP devices to experience the ultimate in flexibility.

Requirements:
To access the trial, you'll need to sign-in or create an F5 account. We'll send you a registration key which you will use to download the trial. This 90-day license is limited to 1 Mbps throughput.

  • Type 1 Hypervisor (VMware ESX Server v4 and VMware ESXi v4)
    Requires 10GB disk space and at least 1GB memory.
  • Type 2 Hypervisor (VMware Workstation v7)
    Requires 10GB disk space and at least 1GB memory.
    We support Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 systems and the system requirements recommended by Microsoft for those respective Operating Systems.
