Welcome to Pro-Exchange, Pro-Lync & Pro-Office 365!
The primary goal of the Pro-Exchange user group is to be a central meeting point for all Unified Communications knowledge in Belgium. As user group, we are focused on IT professionals who are passionate about Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Lync Server and Office 365.
Pro-Exchange members share a document library filled with useful articles about anything concerning Unified Communications. Two very important aspects of Pro-Exchange are the forum where every member is able to ask questions and share ideas concerning Exchange, Lync or Office 365, and the frequent events where Pro-Exchange members meet each other and exchange ideas.
When you go to the HOME page in the menu above, you can find our latest posts, and if you decide to join our user group, you will gain:

I was born in Leuven (1983) and mainly grew up in Erps-Kwerps, a rather small village not far from Leuven.
I've always been passionate about IT, so finding a job in that sector seemed logical to me. I began working at a computershop at the age of 18, but quickly moved to work for Econocom. After having worked there for about a year, I decided to start my own business. I’ve worked for my own for multiple years. During this time I also owned a computer shop in Heverlee.
In 2008 I gave up my independent activities and joined Xylos, where I've been working ever since. My job at Xylos mainly focuses on projects, creating designs, implementing and troubleshooting technologies such as Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Office 365, Lync… As a MCT, I also give training on these products.
Recently, I joined the Pro-Exchange community where I try to help out others by writing blog posts, participate/organize different community events and even give a TechNet Webcast now and then.
In my spare time, I try to spend as much time as possible with my lovely wife (Marie), catch a movie, keep fit by playing sports or hang around at forums like experts-exchange or technet.

I was born in 1977 in the city most famous for its carnival. After studying electronics I had a first job experience at Dolmen Computer Applications. After a year or two I was given the opportunity to start working for a European support department of Nestlé. I ended up in a team responsible for migrating and supporting Exchange Server in the whole of Europe and some parts of Africa. When that company was closed down because of an off-shoring initiative, I joined Xylos. I didn’t do anything with exchange the first few years. I’ve returned to my old love the last of couple of years and put my focus on Messaging, Unified Communications and Archiving.
After being stuck behind a keyboard and monitor for some long hours I like to do some sports. I’ve started of playing floor ball at age 11 and took on ice skating multiples times a week soon after that. At age 18 I finally realized a childhoods dream and combined both of these hobbies by joining a brand new ice hockey team. After playing on a competitive level for about 6 years I found a new hobby in mountain bike marathons. Two kids born within less than 13 months of each other and house to renovate reduce the time available for such sportive challenges. For the moment I content myself with some jogging accompanied by my dog “Deli” (a Golden Retriever).

During my bachelor Electronics-ICT in Gent, I performed my internship at Cisco Systems where I worked on voice-related projects. During my student years I already gained first experience on Exchange and AD through vacation jobs and voluntary weekend work.
My first professional experience was being responsible for the IT environment in a 50-user SMB company. In this company I migrated a NT4 domain to 2003 Active Directory and from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 and redesigned the internal network.
After 1 year I was up to a new challenge. During my internship at Cisco I became interested in voice-environments and joined Quentris where I worked as an installation and support engineer for Cisco Voice and Data projects. I obtained CCNA, CCNA Voice and partial CCVP certification.
After 2 years and the release of Microsoft OCS 2007 R2, I moved back to my old love (the Microsoft platform) and became Technical Consultant Unified Collaboration within Quentris. After 1 year I changed employer and started working for Uw ICT Partner where I'm responsible for all Microsoft UC related projects. In both positions my experience in both Voice and the Microsoft platform has been a great asset.
In my (very rare) spare time I like spending my time with my just-born daughter, watching a movie, having a good time with friends and dedicate some time to technology-related stuff like the Pro-Exchange community.

Although my first contact with computers at age 5 or 6 was limited to playing ‘Dancing Devil’ on a TRS-80 Model III, I did learn to use (and occasionally program) a bunch of platforms during my childhood. After migrating from platform to platform, my current job as an IT manager at the international academic publishing house Brepols Publishers in the end did not come as a surprise.
The most fascinating part of computer technology for me has always been the frontier between the stand-alone computer and the outside world. There where the device itself reaches out beyond its own closed box: the internet, graphic design, audio and video creation, … ; and since recently Unified Communications.
In 2002 I introduced Microsoft Exchange in our company as a replacement for Lotus Notes. In 2007 we were the first small business in Belgium to rip-and-replace our legacy PABX with Office Communications Server 2007. Shortly afterwards we migrated to OCS 2007 R2. Being intimately involved in these projects gave me good basic knowledge of, and experience with, Microsoft’s UC product range.
Not being a UC consultant and having also other responsibilities both inside and outside IT, I am less of an expert in PowerShell and obscure Exchange/OCS configurations as our MVP’s and other core members, but my small-business background and experience with other IT systems brings an additional perspective on UC.
Pro-Exchange was and is the ideal way for me to connect with UC professionals in Belgium and stay up-to-date in this fascinating part of the IT world. After the positive experiences with the OCS introduction in our company I decided to become a core member to actively support the Pro-Exchange user-group and help out other small companies to go forward in this new way of communicating.
And finally a BIG "THANK YOU" to our sponser Combell for providing us the infrastructure to host this community portal. Check out their website for their hosting offerings
